In celebration of the fifth anniversary of the award-winning fantasy The Dark Dreamweaver, Imaginator Press is sponsoring a creative writing contest for children and teens up to age 14. The Dark Dreamweaver is the first book of The Remin Chronicles, about a land literally powered by dreams. Now, Imaginator Press wants to find out what “Dream Power” means to you!

Write a creative story of up to 2000 words on the theme of “Dream Power.” You can interpret the theme in any way you choose. Be creative! Submit your story, and you could win one of ten prizes:

One First Prize winner will receive:
8 GB iPod Touch (or equivalent model, if Apple changes the iPod lineup before the end of the contest)

Four Second Prize winners will receive:
$25 iTunes gift card
(Approximate prize retail value: $25)

Five Third Prize winners will receive:
$10 iTunes gift card
(Approximate prize retail value: $10)

The winning stories will be published in a "Dream Power" anthology. Everyone who enters and includes a self-addressed, stamped envelope with their entry will receive a certificate and a gold “Powered by Dreams” sticker.

Winners will be decided by a panel of judges which includes Nick Ruth, author of The Remin Chronicles. Stories will be judged on originality and creativity, writing quality, grammar and spelling, and appropriateness to “Dream Power” theme.

Rules:

  • The contest is open to children and teens up to age 14. Entrants must be no older than 14 as of the date of entry.
  • Entrants must be residents of the United States.
  • All work must be original and must be the work of the child. Parents, please do not help your child with the story.
  • Entries may be no longer than 2000 words
  • One entry per person
  • Entries must be accompanied by the Entry & Parental Permission Form
  • Entries will be judged on:
    • Originality and creativity (40%)
    • Writing quality (appropriate to age of child) (40%)
    • Grammar and spelling (10%)
    • Appropriateness to “Dream Power” theme (10%)
  • Entries may be typed or handwritten, but must be readable by the judges
  • Entries must be written in English
  • No cursing or other content inappropriate to children
  • Plagiarism will not be tolerated, and any plagiarized entries will be disqualified
  • Employees, shareholders, and officers of Imaginator Press, contest judges, and their family members, are not eligible to enter.
  • The deadline to enter is October 31, 2009 November 30, 2009.
  • No purchase necessary to enter. Entrants do not have to read the book The Dark Dreamweaver to be eligible.
